A Flood Risk Assessment has been undertaken which demonstrate that the site has a low overall risk of flooding from all sources, and there will be a no long-term impact on future residents. The fluvial (rivers and streams) flood map below (on the left) demonstrates no flood risk on the site or in the surrounding area. The pluvial (surface water) flood map below (on the right) demonstrates minor instances of surface water flooding in the surrounding area.
The runoff generated by the impermeable surfaces will be directed towards an attenuation basin that will be located in the south-east corner where levels are lowest. Surface water will then flow off-site to the Severn Trent Water storm sewer.
The attenuation basin has been designed to accommodate surface water from the entirety of the site although may decrease in capacity subject to infiltration testing being undertaken. The initial attenuation basin layout can be seen in the image below.
A new pipe connection into the sewer network will be made to send waste water off-site from the development. Severn Trent have confirmed that the sewers have the required capacity to accommodate the development.
